China has decided to impose anti-dumping tariffs on Nylon 6, or polycaprolactam, imported from the United States, the European Union, Russia and the Taiwan region.
The five-year tariffs, ranging from 4% to 96.5%, will take effect this week, according to an online report from ChinaDaily.com.
The report says dumping of Nylon 6 has caused substantial damage to the Chinese industry and the Ministry of Commerce started an anti-dumping investigation into Nylon 6 imports in April 2009.
In October last year, the ministry started levying a security deposit on Nylon 6 imported from the United States, the European Union, Russia and the Taiwan region as a temporary anti-dumping measure.
Nylon 6 is widely used in the manufacture of hosiery, knitted garments, threads, ropes, filaments, nets and tire cords.
China and the US have been tangled in a series of anti-dumping duty disputes covering several materials.
