Tauranga boutique distillery Simply Pure has won gold at the 2023 International Spirits Challenge with its Black Robin Rare Gin.
In a surprising turn of events, this premium gin, initially awarded bronze, gained a gleaming gold, leaving the team at Simply Pure ecstatic.
"We were content with a bronze. Though, learning it was in fact gold was a marvellous surprise," says Irmengard Deinlein, co-owner of Tauranga-based Simply Pure, recalling the twist that occurred due to a technical glitch in the ISC's judging system.
