Victoria spends big money to lure Chinese trade, visitors

Victoria will launch a trade mission to China next year involving more than 100 companies and organisations, according to NineNews Australia.

The state government will also spend AUD$8 million on a marketing campaign to encourage Chinese visitors.

Premier Ted Baillieu made the announcements during an address to the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai on Friday.

Baillieu was quoted saying Victoria is launching a new strategy to take growth to a new level with the more than a quarter of a million Chinese tourists expected to visit this year.

The trade mission will be the largest conducted by any Australian state and include activities over 10 days in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou.
